What does “Abhyasa” in Yoga mean?
Practice and all is coming
Let me explain this Sanskrit term:
In both the Patanjali Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita 'Abhyasa' is key to control the mind. It means as much as perseverance. Or: never give up, keep on going. It's the effort we put into our constant practice.
Why is Abhyasa so important in Yoga? Repetitions (like the sun salutations) can reach the unconscious and there it a transformation starts.
Can you relate?
Only going once a week to a yoga class makes your body feel better. Over the years you realise how the practice becomes more effortless and natural. And how you've been going through a transformation happening from the inside out.
The Transformation we experience on a personal and physical level in our regular practice (Abhyasa), happens when you practice:
💜 for a longer periode of time
💜 with regularity
💜 when you're staying committed & dedicated to your practice
Today’s journaling question for you:
Did practicing Yoga transform any aspects or areas of your life?
